Odette da Silva (born in Caracas, Venezuela) holds a Bachelor's degree in Arts (Central University of Venezuela), a Master's degree in Philosophy (Simón Bolívar University), and a Doctoral degree in Design Aesthetics (Delft University of Technology).
She has conducted research on the perception of beauty in human artifacts and performances, including art works and design objects, poems and films, math equations and chess moves. Her findings has been published in journals such as Design Issues and Empirical Studies of the Arts.
Odette is the author of three books of poetry: Escandinavia y otros destinos, Contra el viento del norte and Poemasbajos/Netherpoems. Through over a decade in exile, living in Finland and the Netherlands, she has developed a poetic voice that blurs the line between strangeness and intimacy, belonging and isolation.
